More Bronco stuff and general life too...
Ok, so who knew this would turn into a bronco Diary, but heh, I guess it is anyway. So, last time I cleaned the underside, it looked alot better, so I went ahead and fixed the oil leak. Really bad coming out of the oil pressure sensor (mechanic didn't use any teflon tape, yay). So, fixed that, and took out the redundant mechanical gague. That's all better, so I took it back to Leonard, and he welded in my new stabilizer bracket, and then he also welded some parts of the frame and suspension. That has helped greatly with the steering wandering problem. It almost drives like a normal truck with no sway bars now. ANyway, after that, the BIG new is after, on my lunch today, I decided on a lark to go and run it through DEQ. Now, lets preface this by saying the last time this happened, the engine was new, as was all the exhaust, and components, and it took 3 weeks to get it to go through not to mention several hundred dollars for labor involved in the mechanic, doing things like tuning and rejetting the carb several times, and other etc sutff. So, I just wanted to see where I was at, and I was thinking it would not pass at all. I had other options like fuel injection that I was considering to get it through, but that would be like $1200, just not do-able this year, no matter how much I tried to get more cash (Hawii and the boomershoot are going to take the most of my cash this year). Anyway, I went through, for a freebie as they will let you do, and lo and behold it passed. Did just fine. I mean hell I didn't even hook back up the EGR valve. None of that shit was hooked up. All he did was look under the rig for a catalytic converter (yes I have one). So, I am stoked as all hell. Damn near dancing. So, I am thinking well this is awesome, but I have to do it again when september rolls around and I need to get my tags. I mention this and he says "nope" evidently, the inspection is good for 6 months. Pretty badass. So, that is taken care of and all good. I can't wait to get it done. I think the reason that I passed is that they passed a law that went into effect the beginning of this year that says that my year of Bronco is ok to do the basic emissions test and not on the Dyno. So, that combined with the stuff I have done to it this year (like fixing the severe overheating problem) all added up. Man, that made my day. Of course, it was pretty cool, talking to the guy, he is a 4x4 owner as well. We talked about Brown's camp and the fact that it is STILL closed to the public. This is not good. Evidently they are repairing alot of stuff inside and they might be looking for volunteers. I'm going to do that if I get the chance and they can use me. So, we'll see. That's about it for now. I'm still looking foreward to going to the boomershoot, I can't wait. I need to get out and practice though. That has been a long time in coming. I should probably head to Flying "M" for that though for the longer range. Is this like the longest paragraph ever or what? Oh well. Later.
